As the 2006 Grammy MusiCares Person of the Year, American singer/songwriter/guitarist James Taylor has influenced several famous artists to become musicians throughout the past three decades. James Taylor grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and began his career in the mid-sixties, finding an audience during the seventies. His rock/pop music has pleased fans since he began to put out records and he has continued to produce best-selling, award-winning albums throughout the nineties and early-2000s.

James Taylor’s second album, Sweet Baby James, was a major success. The album featured the first of many billboard hits, “Fire and Rain.” The album stimulated interest in Taylor’s first self-titled album from 1968, putting both the album and the popular “Carolina In My Mind” on the charts. James Taylor received his first Grammy award for Best Male Pop Vocals with his 1971 version of Carole King’s “You’ve Got A Friend.”

Five years later, Taylor released his first Greatest Hits album which sold more than 11 million copies. He went on to win two more Grammys for his vocal performances in “Handy Man” (1977) and “Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight” (2001). He also won a Grammy for the Best Pop Album of 1998, Hourglass, and another in 2003 for his collaboration with Alison Kraus in “How’s the World Treating You.”

The influential James Taylor will be launching his 2008 North American Tour this spring. He will play at several venues in both the US and Canada between late-May and early-August. Before the North American Tour, Taylor will be traveling through Europe during late-March to April, 2008.
